What is coming? What are you working?

by Mauro » Fri May 08, 2015 2:06 am

Hello everyone, I am a proud owner of the software when it was still called "Vitamin D". I read in the forum lots of interesting suggestions. Is about three years that suggest two very simple thing but very important:
1) delay setting between 2 consecutive alarms to avoid overlap
2) ignore objects larger than, to avoid false alarms in outdoor
I saw that other users have suggested the same thing. These and some of the other suggestions are really simple to make. Why not let them?
Every year we pay for upgrades, but from now to the end of year what can we expect? Come some major update?
I dare say this because I think Sighthound is an excellent software that would be enough really very little effort to become almost perfect.
Regards
Mauro

Hi Mauro,

Thank you very much for being a continue customer, and for the suggestions. I can't share our roadmap, but we do have a lot in the queue which I hope you'll enjoy when it is ready.

Thanks for the suggestions as well. For delays, there is now indeed an email rate limiting option, something that we may add to other response types in the future. See the below screenshot:

For 'ignore objects bigger than' to avoid false alarms, what type of false alarms are you seeing? The folks in our computer vision lab are hard at work on new and updated algorithms that will hopefully be the ideal way to avoid false alarms, but other manual threshold options may be a possible addition as well.

Best,
- ryan

I have seen and know of the delay in the mail, but it should extend to all the "take action" in particular "Run the command" and "Send an IFTTT event".
I make the premise: I have 9 ip cam outdoor, turned on 24h (scheduling), 365 days / year lit by three years (since I have vitamin d); so I had some experience. The worst are the reflections, light, lights of cars that are projected against a wall. Would result in an instant by introducing "Ignore objects LARGER than" with the pixel value is not 30, 40, 50 ... but set by the user. I do not think there's another way: the "look for people" does not work well, tried and tried; if you have shots with cameras that I take the subject from above, it confuses people with things and things with people, sometimes and sometimes not --> unreliable. Act on time and / or the area does not help.
Since I'm not the only one to ask this, because I think it is very important for the purpose of the software, and which I think is quite easy to implement, you believe that you will manage to do quickly enough?
Would really two points that would become the full software from at least part of the detection.
thanks
Best

Mauro

Agree on the car headlight reflection issues... happens all the time when cars pass my house from either end. Heavy rain is also a common issue for triggering events.

+1, yesterday was windy and the tree kept on setting off motion. Would love MI to solve this, but in lieu of that, setting a "larger than" rule seems a) easy and b) sufficient for now

Yup a ignore objects larger than would be handy for me too. When cars drive past with the lights on in the dark. Sighthound draws a large motion detection box around nothing. I believe if i could set it to ignore these large boxes it would decrease the amount of false alarms.
