Database has grown huge, software crashes unexpectedly

by JPElectron » Thu Apr 30, 2015 2:29 am

Have a problem with a system that has been running fine for a long time...

Noticed that in C:\Users\videoadmin\AppData\Local\Sighthound Video\videos

The objdb2 file is huge, like 3.36GB huge
and clipdb file is 110MB

Any way to clear that out, defrag, compress, or reduce it?

Any easy way to clear out all recordings and just "start fresh" but without having to setup/input all the cameras again?

Not sure if HDD fragmentation impacts performance.

P.S. Says I'm running the latest version 2.4.1 b14991
Machine is a i7-3770 @ 3.40Ghz and 4GB RAM, WD Black 2TB SATA, Win7 Pro SP1 32-bit
6 Cameras

Hi JPElectron,

The size of those files could be normal depending on the amount of video you are storing. The more video you have the larger these files will become. There isn't a way to reduce the size of these files without reducing the amount of space used for videos. If you'd like to 'start fresh' you can delete the C:\Users\videoadmin\AppData\Local\Sighthound Video\videos directory that contains your database and video files.

Regards,
