remote server for a remote sighthound

by humphries09 » Thu Apr 16, 2015 2:19 am

hello!!! I have been very pleased with sighthound. My question is Can I host the remote server to access the clips off of a different computer with a much better internet connection... Maybe a little detail will help.. I have sight hound basic at my ranch which works great with the 2 cameras that are on it. It only has a 6mb broadband connection the is super blow your brains out slow... but I have it upload everything to an ftp server here at my house which is a 100mb line that is crazy fast.... So what i would like to do is have the remote server\access run off of an actual server here at my house and have it use the clips off of my ftp server so you can view them at a reasonable speed... not wait 30sec per clip. I do not care about being able to instantly view the cameras I want to be able to get on my phone and have it connect to the remote server in fort worth and show me all the clips that have been uploaded since i use it for seeing what kind of wildlife walks by the cameras... Thanks you very much and please let me know what if anything i can do to achieve my goal.

Hi humphries09,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing bandwidth issues. Unfortunately at this time it isn't possible to have a separate Sighthound web server that streams your exported clips, though you may be able to accomplish this with other media server software. In general, you can reduce the bandwidth used by reducing the resolution that Sighthound is saving video at.

Regards,

-Devin
