Android App is not working on Lollipop (5.0.1)

My phone was upgraded to Lollipop, and ever since I can no longer stream clips. The clip starts playing for 4 seconds and stops, the app retries automatically to play the clip a few time and then presents a message "Clip Load Error, the clip could not be loaded"

So currently the Android remote app is not usable.

Are you able to view clips if you connect to the web server using a browser on your Android device?

It will not play on my phone browser (Chrome) either. The error message I get is: "This video could not be loaded either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported"

I can view clips on my PC using Chrome browser.

I just got a new version for Windows (2.4.1 - 14991), it didn't help with the phone playback issue..

Same exact problem on LG G3 with 5.0.1 Lollipop - cannot play clips, can see them and select them but will not load them, please fix..

@ArieArie - Sorry for the delay. Have you tried disabling HLS streaming in the Settings menu? This will use a different method of streaming video which hopefully will work on your specific model.

I have the same problem with LG G3 5.0.1, it will play 2 seconds before erroring out with "Clip load error"

to answer your question, yes, I have disabled HLS in setting, and it still not working..
I have an update: My phone (LG G3, 5.01) had died, and I got a new phone (same model), and Sighthound will not play clips in the app, nor in the mobile browser, just like my old phone.
The clip will play for 2 seconds and than the app will freeze.
This mean that the problem I had was not specific to my phone, but to all LG G3 with 5.0.1.
I also can see on this forum that some other users with an LG G3 experiencing the same problem.
Do you have any plans to address this?

Hi all,

It seems that this is not a general Lollipop issue but instead that LG has replaced the default media player / codec library with their own. It reports to the server as "Player/LG Player 1.0 for Android 5.0.1 (stagefright alternative)".

It's quite unfortunate that it seems to be breaking standard functionality as we need to rely on the built in media players and codecs on mobile OSs, but we'll certainly see if we can find any workarounds.
