New user - trying to setup and have a network IP question

by tpope » Wed Feb 11, 2015 3:41 pm

here is my test.

i have a home in Taos with 20 IP cameras. I am in Dallas. I have my server loaded with Sighthound software and have added two cameras. I am VPN'd from Dallas (where the server is as I test) to Taos. I can see the cameras just fine.

I want to test the iPhone client - so I enabled remote access. unfortunately, when I enabled remote access, it chose 127.0.0.1 as the local network - I need it to choose the local IP (10.1.150.59). I cannot see how to change this setting - anyone know?

Hi tpope,

127.0.0.1 is local host, not the local network IP address. The local network IP address is the Internal IP address that is listed in the remote access tab.

yes - ok. the issue i have is that the network IP is showing up as the VPN'd IP and not the actual IP of the box - i need to vpn to see the cameras - can i modify this IP address to reflect the local network?

Hi tpope,

Sighthound Video cannot make any networking changes other than selecting the port that the remote server runs on. The remote access tab only displays the IP address of the computer and the network it is running on. If the addresses are displaying in the remote access tab then you should be able to connect using the Sighthound Video iOS app by using the external address displayed.
