Issues Since Upgrading to 2.4

by ultrajones » Sat Feb 07, 2015 2:04 pm

Since upgrading to version 2.4, I have been occasionally losing connection to my cameras when viewing the web page. The cameras appear to work fine within the Sighthound application. In order to restore the connection to the camera, I have to edit them, then go though the wizard without changing any settings. This seems to fix the issue temporarily, then it breaks again after some period of time. Anyone else experience this issue?

This is the error being return from Sighthound for the cameras:

Request:
GET /camera/49376/image.jpg?height=225&width=225&date=1423332161225 HTTP/1.1

Response:
<html>
<head><title>502 Bad Gateway</title></head>
<body bgcolor="white">
<center><h1>502 Bad Gateway</h1></center>
<hr><center>nginx/1.7.6</center>
</body>
</html>

Ultrajones

It looks like the Sighthound Video application is also losing connection to the cameras even though there is no indication the application lost connection.

Upgraded to 2.4 two days ago.
I use a Nexus 7 tablet with most recent Firefox browser as my main monitor for two Panasonic cameras. Has been working faultlessly for over a year.
Sighthound 2.4 works fine on the PC running it, but every monitor I use gives problems, with disconnecting either one or both cameras after at most 30 minutes. Hitting the reload button sometimes works, sometimes not. In fact, my monitor is as good as useless.
Using several PC or laptop simultaneously show they all disconnect at the same moment.
Can I go back to a previous version?

Addendum to my previous posting.
The Sighthound "Clips" work perfectly and can be seen on any remote device just like previously. Also, I checked that the clips were duly registered by walking in front of my cameras while my tablet was showing the "Connecting" picture.
Perhaps also worth mentioning: before the upgrade the camera pictures appeared within seconds of my entering the password credentials on my remote devices. Now it can take minutes. Sometimes one camera appears immediately, the the other after a few minutes while the first one disconnects again.
It's really a nightmare!

Thank you both for reporting the issues you are experiencing, I'm sorry you're encountering trouble with 2.4. We will investigate and see what we can discover.

@WfromL, you can certainly return to a previous version of the software if you would like. They can be found at https://www.sighthound.com/account/#/download by clicking the "Looking for a previous version?" link under the latest download links. Before installing a different version please turn off all cameras in Sighthound Video and exit the application.

Thank you Ryan for pointing out the "previous version" link.
I went back to 2.3.2 and everything works Ok again. Camera pictures show up instantaneously on any monitor and I haven't had a disconnect since I reinstalled 2.3.3, that's is for almost 4 hours now.
So it's definitely the 2.4 upgrade that causes the problem

Hi zxcslo,

I have sent you a message with information on how to retrieve a developer build with these fixes included. Anyone experiencing similar issues can also receive this build by contacting [email protected]. We will push a public 2.4.1 update in the coming days after we have had a chance to finish running more thorough testing over these new changes.

Best,
- ryan
