Continuous recording

by FIN13 » Sun Feb 01, 2015 2:54 am

Hello - I have the trial version and am new to this. I assume continuous recording means to chose any for the image or motion and then it just continues to record clips? Does anyone know if while I am viewing a clip on my external drive if the software continues to records? Also, does this software just take video or does it snap photos as well? Thanks!

Hi FIN13,

Sighthound Video will temporarily record all video from your cameras and will then cut that video up into clips that are saved by your rules. You can set the amount of time Sighthound temporarily holds all video in Options > Storage (Preferences > Storage on mac). For details on how long video is saved, how to manage disk space, and how video clips are divided up, please see this article: https://www.sighthound.com/support/managing-your-video

Video files in the Sighthound directory are not meant to be viewed outside of Sighthound Video. You can export clips by selecting the desired clip and going to Tools > Export clip. You can also set a rule to automatically export clips to a local folder (see https://www.sighthound.com/support/export-local-folder).

If you enable email notifications for a rule you will receive images from your camera feed each time the rule is triggered. (see https://www.sighthound.com/support/rule-editor#mail)

Regards,

-Devin
