Sighthound not able to discover ONVIF cameras?

by dalepres » Thu Jan 29, 2015 6:06 pm

I had been looking for years for a good video surveillance software solution for my home security system. I just discovered Sighthound today and have great hopes for it but, so far, can't get it working.

Sighthound is asking for the path to the video stream and I cannot locate the information for my cameras: http://www.securitycamera2000.com/produ ... 2d-US.html.

It's my undewrstanding that the ONVIF standard requires that the cameras be discoverable using ws-discovery and the camera will ultimately provide the path to the video stream. This works for my Synology NAS Surveillance Station and worked for Blue Iris and both those packages only needed the IP address to connect to my cameras. With all the talk on the Sighthound site about finding virtually all cameras, I had hoped it would find mine and I could use it.

Hi dalepres,

Onvif support is something we are currently working on and hope to have in a future build.

The camera's description page claims you can connect to this camera using RTSP://camera.ip.address/mpeg4
You can enter this in the camera setup by selecting "Other IP Camera" and entering the following:

Protocol: rtsp
Port: <leave empty>
Stream Path: /mpeg4

Regards,

-Devin

This is how I connect my ONVIF Cameras.

Try using this as your stream path, make sure you include your camera username and password.

user=myusername&password=mypassword&channel=1&stream=0.sdp?svforcetcp

See the attached image for more detail.

Hi Dalepres,

We thought you would like to know that Sighthound Video 2.4, released today, now supports the discovery and configuration of cameras through ONVIF.
