Remote access - port forwarding

by dradb » Fri Nov 28, 2014 4:21 pm

Remote access has been working well for me but now it has stopped without apparent reason. I checked the port I used with this http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ ... and it says the port I'm using is closed.

I'm using a netcomm NB604N and went to this guide to manually port forward the port I was using http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... tguide.htm

The guide wasn't clear as to whether "Server IP address" is internal (192.168.1.2) or external. It wouldn't work with either.

I tried setting a range of port numbers 7074 to 7076 instead of just 7074 using the internal IP address 192.168.1.2. ... 7074 and 7076 still show being closed. 7075 shows open and it works!

What is happening and how can I make sure the remote access keeps working?

Thanks for your help.

BTW, I've tried turning my firewall on and off, with no effect.

http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ also shows the port as closed, no matter what I try.

I've set up "NAT -- Virtual Servers Setup" with:
Sighthound 7075 7075 TCP/UDP 7075 7075 192.168.1.12 ppp0

on the modem setup.
