Sales Inquiry -Camera Licensing

by ml48603 » Thu Nov 27, 2014 4:31 am

I am currently demoing Synology Surveillance PLug-In on my Synology DiskStation 115J. I am lookiong for a lower per cam cost solution. Will Sight and Sound run on a Synology 115J NAS ? Each NAS I am using will support 3-4 cameras. As my system grows I will add additional NASs to support a growing camera pool. If I am interrpretting your license page correctly it would appear that the most economical way for me to add onto my multiple NAS system would be with the purchase of multiple "Basic" level licenses. Am I correct? Can 2 "Basic" licenses be assigned to one NAS servicing 4 cameras? Are the Basic licenses transportable from one NAS to another as NAS failures occur in service? Please explain your licensing system.

Hi ml48603,

Thank you for your interest in Sighthound Video. You can certainly transfer your Sighthound Video license from one machine to another, but a given license can only be installed on one machine at a time. Sighthound Video can only use one license at a time, so you cannot install multiple basics on the same installation.

Sighthound Video includes a free 14 day pro trial, if you are considering using the software I'd encourage you to download and try it out to see if it meets your needs.

Let us know if we can answer any other questions for you.

Best,
- ryan

Let me get this straight. If my device only supports 4 cameras, then i must purchase a $250 pro license for that one unit? My cost $62.50 a camera. Synology licensing is a bargain compared to SightHound.

Hi ml48603,

We feel that Sighthound Video is a great value for the features and functionality it provides, though I recognize that not everyone will agree or it may not fit all use cases. I'm sorry if the application or it's pricing structure do not meet your needs at this time and wish you luck in finding a solution that does.

Best,
- ryan
