Can I merge all clips into one video per schedule?

by amityweb » Wed Nov 26, 2014 5:50 am

Hi

I am recording outside my office, but that includes a road and so records many cars passing over night. This is not a problem, the problem is it records a different clip for every recording. So today there's 1042 clips from last night! So it will take too long to review it all so I don't.

I am also trialling SecuritySpy. This merges all video clips into one video per schedule, so last night I have one video clip, only made up of the times it detected movement, so its only about 5 minutes long. This means i can just drag the video slider across the entire nights recording quickly, I can review the entire night in about 10 seconds. Its easy to see people compared to cars on the road which is what I want to monitor.

So can Sighthound record all clips into one video for quick scanning? I can't find a setting for it.

Thanks

Hi amityweb,

There currently isn't a way to merge clips in Sighthound Video, though it sounds like you should be able to configure a rule that ignores these cars. It's hard to say which would work without knowing the scene but in most cases creating a new rule or editing a new one to only look for people should work. I've attached an image showing where the option to only look for people is.

Here are a few articles which may be helpful in configuring your rule if you need to use regions:

The region or boundary search doesn't do what I expect - https://www.sighthound.com/support/regi ... t-i-expect

Hi Sorry for late reply I did not get an email to tell me a reply was made...

Thanks for the suggestion, I thought about a rule, but I would say it wont work 100% of the time. Maybe it will miss people, or still identify people. I enabled the People option once to try it out and it showed lots of cars passing through a small gap in the middle as the moving image was tall and thin.

So the only way is combine all videos in one video, it saves a hell of a lot of time. It looks as though I will have to go with SecuritySpy.

Thanks a lot though

Being able to concatenate the clips would be great. I have several cameras running, and also have the car issue. I do have specific rules to try to eliminate cars but it is not 100% effective and results in missing some events. Additionally when actual people etc move behind obstacles and reappear, new clips are generated that should be continuous.

Sighthound has some tremendous features, and I am a generally satisfied customer, but lack of concatenation and a scriptable API are two major shortcomings that, if corrected, would make this software much more useful.
