Region entering vs inside

by sightbeagle » Wed Nov 12, 2014 6:38 pm

I have read https://www.sighthound.com/support/rule-editor but, I am confused between the difference of moving objects that are, inside a region and entering a region. Both rules will catch and record movement if the center point of an object enters and is inside the region. How do they differ?

Hi sightbeagle,

I'll do my best to explain the differences between the two. Basically an "Entering my region" rule only cares about someone entering the region and will create a small clip surrounding the event. "Inside my region" cares about everything that happens inside of the region, not just when they enter, so you will have longer clips.

For example, lets say someone enters your region and spends a minute walking in a circle within your region. A rule with "Entering my region" will only have a clip of the person entering your region while a rule with "Inside my region" will capture the entire event (entering and walking in a circle).

Regards,

-Devin

Thanks Devin, That makes sense now. If that description is not on your website it should be. Thanks, your software is amazing!
