Video stream is very jerky when viewed from LAN

by AlKoch » Wed Nov 05, 2014 1:51 pm

Hello,

I have Sighthound running successfully (really nice software!) but when I view the video stream from a browser on another PC on the same LAN it is very "jerky". I'd say I get a new frame about one a second. This is from a single USB/direct connect cam on another PC on the same LAN. That cam is a very inexpensive, low end cam (for initial testing) but the video I get in the Sighthound Cameras window is very smooth so I wouldn't think the low cost cam is the cause of this.

Can someone tell me why this is happening and how to fix this. (If it's this bad on te LAN I can't imagine what the steam will be like when I test this "across the Internet".

Thank you.

Hi AlKoch,

Are you viewing your camera(s) from the main index page which displays all cameras? This page displays the cameras at a lower resolution and frame rate as it is meant to be an overview page. If you click on one of the camera images you will be brought to a higher resolution video feed with a better frame rate as well as a fullscreen option.

Regards,

Hi Devin,

This problem appears to have "gone away"!

Thank you.
