noob having issues with rules

I'm trying out Sighthound to see if i want to buy it and I'm having an issue... I have 1 Foscam camera outside pointed at my front door. I got Sighthound seeing the feed and set up a rule to record when it detected anything crossing a threshold so that anything walking onto the porch towards the front door would trigger a recording. Checked back a few days later and saw several recordings showing what I expected. I wanted to expand to trigger recordings with any movement by an object bigger than 70 pixels and thought I should have been able to run the new rule against previous recordings. I couldn't get it to work on old recordings so I figured I'd just check back again in a few days. Checked back tonight and it looks like there are no new threshold recordings (which is not right) and no recordings for the new rule either... How did I break it? LOL

oh and Im running the software on a Mac mini with Mavericks... the 24/7 recording seems fine, the rules are just not working anymore..

You are correct that any rules created or edited can immediately be used to search over any videos data present on the machine. My problem is I had one rule working ok but it has stopped working plus an additional rule that has never worked (but I suspect it is affected by whatever killed the first rule)...

If you'd like to submit a bug report from inside the application (Help->Report a Problem...) we'd be glad to take a look and see if anything internal to the application is having trouble.

Otherwise, If you try creating a basic rule (any object, anywhere) are you able to correctly use that to perform a search? It may help to start with a broad rule and gradually edit it to become more specific and see at what point it may be filtering too much. You mention having one rule which used to work but now doesn't - what is that? The only rule you've mentioned so far is a region or boundry rule with a size filter which didn't work. It could perhaps be that there is accidentally something more narrowing like a size or duration trigger enabled on the original rule?
