DynDNS Support ?

by qvilorio » Wed Aug 13, 2014 3:17 pm

Hi,

I see that in order to support remote access Sighthound relies on the external ip and port, however like most people my external ip is dynamic. Is there any way to integrate a dyndns service or does Sighthound detects and changes the external ip automatically?

Thanks for your response,

You can certainly use a dynamic dns service. The application logic doesn't depend on whether you access it from an IP or a dns name. I use a dns name myself.

Thank you for your response. Do instar of the IP, I can just white the DNS URL with the port and it should work, right?. I assume that the same foscam DNSs for the cameras should work?

A dns name like "a.b.example.com" is translated to an IP address by your computer/device, so you would use that in place of the IP itself.

I don't know anything about foscam DNS, but assuming that points to your home IP it should work usable.
