Too many Sighthound Agent.exe*32

by Danny_CH » Mon Aug 11, 2014 1:33 pm

Hi,
I have a question about the amount of the Sighthound Agent.exe*32 instances. I'm using seven cameras while there are twelve Sighthound Agent.exe*32 instances running and one Sighthound Video.exe*32 which is explainable. I would understand that there would run one Sighthound Agent.exe for each camera but I do not understand why there are more.
Another problem is that those instances to not close after I have shutdown Sighthound. I have to use a script which kills all remaining instances. The box is a dedicated Win7 64 Bit Pro.
Any further information on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Danny

Hi Danny,

Sighthound Video is a multiprocess application. There are five base processes with an additional for each camera.

If you have cameras enabled and scheduled, all processes will not be closed when you exit the user interface. There is a dialog explaining this which you may have checked to not warn you anymore. Most users do not have the user interface up while cameras are recording and would not want cameras to stop recording when they close it. If you would like to cleanly close all processes, you can click the "Turn off cameras" button and then quit the user interface. Terminating processes may result in data loss or corruption.

Hi Ryan
I overlooked that msgbox obviously ;)
If data corruption could occur when killing the remaining processes would also mean that it's necessary to close all running camera instances before rebooting the box right?
However I'm happy with your product.
Thanks Ryan!

Glad to hear you're enjoying the app. Sighthound Video will listen for shutdown events from the OS so things should be fine, though if you notice any "Video not found" events in searches around the time of a shutdown this may indicate a problem.
