NO MORE multiple computers?

by mike_va » Wed Jun 25, 2014 9:03 pm

Bought this on an upgrade to vitaminD, BUT

Now, latest version appears to be telling me that I can only use this on one computer?

Has this always been the case with sighthound or did the rules change?

Really, would not have purchased if i had known this. Reason is one machine will always have the hard drive bottleneck, because you do not allow multiple hard drives like other VMS.

If I go back to the old sighthound version (the one I am not required to create an account for) can I use that on more than one computer?

This is not a good idea to limit to one machine, due to hard drive speeds.

Already I have compared VitaminD on an i7 w/ SSD superfast to sighthound on an i7 kinda sluggish, really.

So, the problem is that you need to run on multiple machines. Sure, it will work but will hang "not responding" performing a refresh.

Hi Mike,

This has always been the case since the earliest releases of Vitamin D Video, it was never permissible to simultaneously use a license on multiple machines. Licenses can freely be moved between machines if you upgrade or need to relocate your installation, but each server must have it's own license.

Distributing the workload of a single installation across multiple servers will certainly be a feature of the planned enterprise version.

If you're experiencing any performance issues with the software we would be happy to help you troubleshoot. The Sighthound Video should be performing slightly better than Vitamin D Video, if not at least equivalent.

Best,
