I presume that this is something that is being considered for the enterprise version, but it would really help for the regular version as well.
At the moment I have had to limit the resolution and frame rates on my cameras to prevent hitting 100% cpu usage, which if reached makes the iPhone app really slow.
Rather than buying a high cost machine and dedicating it to Sighthound, it would be great if I could split the processing across multiple machines, each dealing with fewer cameras, with a single machine acting as the controller/client.
Ideally the server component could be ported on to low cost, low power consumption and silent running hardware such as the http://www.raspberrypi.org/product/model-b/ , but using old PC's etc would work as well (though not having to deal with Windows, mechanical hard drives, fans, power supplies etc makes the Raspberry Pi a much better option for 24x7 computing)
