I just purchased 3 Alibi-IPU3013R cameras (because they were on the sighthound supported list) I've been trying to get it to connected for the past 4hrs with no luck, I can't locate the ip address, I can't use the mini cd they gave me (I'm using Mac) to run th software to locate the cameras, How do I get this camera to show up for sighthound? Its on the drop down list of cameras but when you select it, it doesn't fill in any info!

Hi jmac,

I'm sorry you're having trouble getting your cameras set up. It appears this model should support ONVIF detection, though it sounds like it may not have successfully been added to your network yet. Have you been able to connect to the camera from a browser or any source yet?

You may need to contact Alibi for specific help with locating your camera if you cannot use their software. It may be that by default DHCP is not enabled and the camera has a hard coded IP address and subnet preventing it from joining your network as expected. This might be documented in the manual which came with the camera. If not, you may be able to log into your router and look for new connected devices, or use network tools such as nmap to search for all devices on your network.

Best,

There is no useful info in the manual. No mac address no ip address written anywhere. I'm guessing my computer is not on the right subnet, thats assuming alibi cameras come with a default static ip address and if they did I'm not sure why they wouldn't give that info. it only comes with a mini cd (people still use those?) that only works with a pc, on that mini cd is software to locate the camera and change settings. I can't find mac software to do this. I purchased these cameras because they were on the Sighthound supported camera list and I've wasted 3 days of my trail because of it. I was expecting a much smoother process from a camera that was on the supported list. Clearly not supported out of the box.

Hi jmac,

We'll be happy to extend your trial as needed anytime, simply email [email protected] and let them know.

Sighthound Video can record from any camera which allows access to its video stream, and can even auto-detect and configure cameras which support the ONVIF protocol, as this camera claims to. I'm afraid, however, that while we're certainly happy to do our best to help, ensuring that cameras are properly installed on the network is not something our software can do as they must be on the network before it can communicate with them.

I'm having trouble locating any manuals or information on these cameras. It appears that Alibi is a brand owned by http://www.observint.com/portfolio/alibi.html, you may want to try contacting their support for help getting your cameras connected to your network. Alternatively you may want to contact one of their two distributors mentioned on that page where you likely purchased your cameras, security cameras direct or super circuits.

Best,
- ryan

Got it working! I used this software http://www.bensoftware.com/networkdevicefinder/ to scan my network, I changed my ip address manually to 192.0.0.1 then scanned using the app, it found the ip address of the camera and then I changed the settings (password and ip address) to be on my local network. Thank you for your help!

Alibi cameras use default ip address: 192.0.0.64
