I disagree. SH has good vision, but that's it!
1) No option to record direct to disk (no re-encoding)
2) No option to utilize on-camera motion/PIR detection
3) No option to limit FPS for cameras that can't do it themselves (Logitech)
4) No option to record audio
5) No option to run background processes as service(s)
6) No options to control layout of live view (window resize doesn't count)
7) No option to cycle through large live views of all cameras
8) Search console appears to create thumbs on the fly each and every time it loads events from database (slow)
9) Mobile console is unusable for viewing events over internet (way too slow)
10) Web console looks nice but is almost unusable, even over LAN (too slow)
11) Uses a TON of CPU
A $50 competitor has none of the above limitations/issues. SH does have good vision, but it's far from perfect. It still can see headlights on the sides of stationary objects as people. If it was more complete, it would be worth $250. The vision alone is not worth it to me--not with all the shortcomings.
EDIT:
BTW, I don't ordinarily lurk on forums to bash products. I tried SH for nearly 2 weeks, and I really wanted to like it, but I just couldn't like it enough to part with $250. I lurk hoping that, in the future, either the price is reduced or the product is made more complete.
