Advice on settings

by 303 » Wed May 14, 2014 3:17 am

Hi!

I wish to get the optimal settings for my back deck:
• Any [person] walking [on to the deck or around on the deck] triggers
• Any [person] walking [down the back path to the deck] triggers
• Any random animal anywhere gets recorded as a novel curiosity but does not trigger a notification
• Insects flying through like the one below do not set it off at all.

Can you recommend some settings for me please?

Hi 303,

Below is an example of how you can use the "on top of" region option for your first two examples. I'm unsure of where the "back path to the deck" is exactly so this is just a guess of how it could look.

This eliminates false positives from plants swaying in the wind and insects flying over your deck.

To record any animal anywhere without sending a notification, you will need to set up a new rule for this camera and use the default "any object/anywhere" and only set it to "Mark this clip to be saved".

False triggers from insects flying on your region can be reduced by using the "Include objects visible longer than: ___seconds" option. There is also a "Ignore objects smaller than: ___pixels" which may help if the insects are loitering around your scene so long as they are not too close to the camera.

If you are unsure of where these options are please see this article: http://www.sighthound.com/support/rule-editor
