Remote Access on Intranet with no Internet access

by dmayf4 » Mon May 12, 2014 11:45 pm

I have installed Sighthound onto a server that is on a separated VLAN on a larger network which has no internet access and the cameras are also on this VLAN so the camera are detected with no problems to the server. This was done for security reasons, What I am trying to do is remote view the clips from a web browser. I have the options selected to view remotely, and I can connect to the web server but when I have to view the clips the JWPlayer does not load. I notice that it is trying to access http://jwpsrv.com... Since the VLAN has no access the internet it can find this website.

Is there some way to embed the JWPlayer into the website with out the need to have it check the internet site. I have tested with a 3G Modem connected to the laptop I am trying to remote view and it will work then so I know it is because there is no internet access on this VLAN. The network is in a Government department and can not be changed so a solution is essential.

These options could not be tested with the trial as the remote access was only allowed once purchased so i could not test this before hand. As I tried to enable it before Purchase.

Any help would be great

Hi David,

There is not a way at the moment to utilize the web player without an internet connection. Going forward we will certainly look into alternate ways to allow for this. Note that the Android and iOS mobile apps do not have this limitation. I'm not sure what trouble you were running into in the starter edition. At the moment it does not include restrictions on remote access.

Best,
