Trouble with 2 cameras

by Scott » Thu May 08, 2014 3:30 pm

Hi Ryan,
I have 2 of the foscam cameras and 1 alone worked fine but as soon as i added a second one and upgraded the software the second one does not connect in the sighthound software. It seems to work fine in a browser but I purchased the software to record video in my home when i am not home. It's a 1GB network so I am frustrated because everything else i use is very fast. Any ideas?
Scott

Hi Scott,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. What model cameras are you trying to connect to, and what settings are you using? Is it the same model as your first camera?

Hi Ryan,
They are both the same Foscam FI8918W's except 1 is set a s a port 80 pasthrough on my router. I shouldnt even need that as it's all staying inside my network.

Hi Scott,

Is it the camera that you have set up with external port forwarding that is having the trouble? Are you configuring it in the application via the local address or external?

The "Foscam FI8918W" preconfigured setting in Sighthound Video corresponds to a URL of
Code: Select all
http://USER:PASS@IP/videostream.cgi

of course replacing USER, PASS, and IP with your username, password, and IP address. If that isn't connecting for your new camera, it could be that something is configured differently than the camera defaults, or that the defaults for this camera have changed with a newer firmware version. If you attempt to connect to that URL from any media player such as Quicktime or VLC does it connect?

Additionally, you can submit a bug report from inside the application by selecting "Help->Report a Problem" and that will send us some recent logs - I can check if anything odd is happening internal to the application.
