New rule

by markjans » Mon May 05, 2014 9:07 am

Hi. I love this program. I have one camera pointing into my front courtyard and get notifications when a person walks towards the house.

I recently installed a myintercom intercom system at my front gate. It is pretty cool and when someone presses the button it rings on my iphone or my wife's phone any where provided internet. I thought it would be useful to connect its camera to sight hound so I can record what is happening at the front gate in the street.

It connected easily using the ip camera option.

Currently I don't have any notifications as there are a lot of people passing and no rule that would work.

I would love a rule that notified me if someone was loitering close to the camera. So if a person was filing a certain percentage of the frame for more than say 4-5 seconds it sent me an alert. Normal people walk past on the street in 1-2 seconds.

Obviously if someone presses the button I will know and it records the event using the myintercom interface. But it doesn't record anything else if the intercom button isn't pressed.

A new Sighthound rule would be awesome

Hi markjans,

I'm glad to hear you enjoy Sighthound Video. You may want to try using the "Include objects visible longer than: __seconds" feature located in the "That are:" block of the Rule Editor. This will help distinguish between someone loitering and someone walking past.

Depending on your scene, you may be able to use the "Ignore objects smaller than: __pixels" to filter out people in the distance. This is located in the "Look for:" block of the Rule Editor.
