SightHound IPad app wanted

by creas002 » Sun May 04, 2014 7:33 pm

I upgraded from Vitamin D Pro to Sighthound Pro per supports recommendation when I had made a request for something in Vitamin D. Reviewing the features I did not see anything that I would call significant enough to upgrade for except the ability to review clips and alerts remotely.

What I found after paying for the upgrade is that I lost 20-25% idle CPU utilization on a quad core I7 clocked to 3.8GHz so now my 8 cameras being monitored keep my PC running around 45-50% utilized. Sorry off topic I know. Back to point, so the only feature that I would liked to have had seems to only be supported with an IPhone app and it is not designed take advantage of Ipad large retina display.

Ok, wish I could get a refund on my upgrade as going back to Vitamin D seems like a wise choice to reclaim CPU cycles for other tasks.

Hi creas002,

I'm afraid I can't find any support tickets associated with the email address you used to register on the forums. It may have been that you asked for a feature that already exists in Sighthound Video? Otherwise we only mention the upgrade path because we've found most Vitamin D Video users aren't aware and are very happy to discover the software has been updated and is undergoing new development.

I'm surprised to hear that you are seeing higher CPU usage, most computers have seen equivalent or slightly lower CPU usage with Sighthound Video. Did you just upgrade? Is it possible that there are still background Vitamin D Video processes running? Depending on when you last ran Vitamin D Video and when you launched Sighthound Video for the first time and looked at CPU, there may still be a bit of importing or trimming of temporary video to clips occurring that is using extra CPU.

I agree that making the iOS app universal and taking advantage of the iPads extra display would indeed be a great feature and hopefully one we can manage to tackle sooner rather than later. We would definitely like to push more features and functionality into the remote access clients as we move forward.

Best,
- ryan

I have been using Sighthound for a month now. Software works pretty well. The remote tools - both Android and IOS need much improvement. Especially need an IPAD app. There are other camera apps on the market that interface with the IP cameras much better, so it can be done. Please look at improving this.
