I've been playing with the IFTTT integration - thanks for adding the feature!

So far I've found it to be quite responsive, and quicker to send a notification (via the IF iOS app) than my previous solution which has been to send an email from Sighthound to my SMS address which seems to take an extra 30-45 seconds to receive.

The downside is that all I seem to be able to do at the moment is trigger an event. What I'd like to do is trigger an event and send an image from that camera via SMS - I'm hoping that might provide a faster response time than the email > SMS route.

Any thoughts? What other solutions do people use? I tried the Sighthound iOS app but found it awkward to manage as a separate app than to receive SMS alerts.

I would like it if I could have my iOS location status tell Sighthound to turn off e-mail notifications. I want the cameras to stay armed, but I don't need e-mails/texts every time I walk through the yard, etc. When I or others are gone (via iOS location channel), then it can send me e-mail notifications. I want the cameras to record all of the people, etc, and keep those files, but again, the notifications are annoying.

Does SH respond to IFTTT notifications? I'd like to send an SMS to IFTTT, which would then notify SH to capture images from my cameras and send an sms or email. Possible?

Hello habari,

At this time Sighthound only sends IFTTT actions, so your scenario is not currently possible.

How can one send a command to SH to grab and store/send an image via SMS or email?

I saw a perl based push bullet solution, but that looks a little complicated to initiate.

I would second this request. I would be very interested in a way to do it!

I did figure out a solution for screenshot via IFTTT.

What you do is an IF for Sighthound event and a THAT for Dropbox creating a text file in a Dropbox folder. You have Automator (on Mac only) "watch" the folder, and if anything is added to the folder Automator would then take a screenshot from the main screen and put it in a seperate dropbox folder with a unique name based on exact date and time.

The catches... You would want to leave Sighthound up on a display that is NEVER asleep. This is the problem I am having, as all my screenshots end up black unless I leave my display perpetually awake. I don't know if there is a workaround to this, and I'd prefer to let my display sleep. Also, I haven't been using this long enough to figure out how often the screenshot is taken quickly enough when the rule/event is triggered to see WHO/WHAT triggered the rule on the feed.

For a feature request, I would LOVE the option for when an rule/event is triggered, a still is captured from the feed and can be posted to Dropbox or some other cloud storage (rather than the entire clip being posted).

Basically, I want to quickly see what triggered a rule without having to open and view video. This would make notifications that much quicker to sift through.

***EDIT*** Only now as I browsed this forum did I catch that the email trigger sends images... DOH! That is wonderful : )
