2 Foscams not working after upgrade?

by bwood15 » Thu Apr 24, 2014 10:23 pm

Hi Ryan,

I just upgraded my VitaminD Pro license to Sighthound. It seemed to work seamlessly until I opened my cameras. I have 4 Foscam 8910's that were working perfectly moments before. They are still working perfectly from my browser and on my iPad through FoscamPro. All the settings are correct. The ONLY difference from the other 2 cameras that I know of is that they have a more complex password (12 characters / letters, numbers, symbols) than the two that are working (8 characters / letters, numbers, symbols). Please help - I rely on these heavily!

Thanks,
Brandon

Hi Brandon,

Sorry you're experiencing trouble, we'll be glad to help get things working again. There shouldn't be any difference between VDV and Sighthound Video. If you suspect that the username or password may be an issue, can you try changing them to match the cameras that are working to eliminate that as a possibility?

If that does not help, can you verify that Sighthound Video has the correct IP/configuration and that something didn't go wrong with the import? And perhaps try configuring those two cameras from scratch?

I will try that Ryan, but was hoping there would be a simpler solution I hadn't thought of. The Foscams are a royal pain to take down, connect one at a time to network (they are on wi-fi currently), and then make password changes and the like, but I will try and report what I find.

Also, with the other 2 cams working perfectly, the IP config issue would be ruled out correct? I've already checked individual settings and they are what they should be. Remember, the 2 cameras in question are working perfectly fine in my browser.

Ok Ryan...yep, sure enough it was the password. When I reduced it from 12 to 8 characters, it popped up on Sighthound immediately - strange since, again, it was working fine with the old software.

Please let me know what other information you may need from me (if any) to correct this bug. These are sensitive cams for which a stronger password is needed. Thanks.

Hi Brandon,

Glad you got things working again.

Sighthound itself certainly doesn't have a restriction on passwords. I'm afraid I don't have an 8910, but we can run some tests on the 8916 and 8918 which are hopefully similar enough to see if there is an issue with the camera. I assume that you can't share the passwords themselves but if there is any more specific information you could provide over a private message or email that would be great.
