I have another option that could work for this. A 'pause' option for notifications from the camera would be useful.

This means that the system stays at the same level of 'alertness' , i.e. notifies me about every event that I might care about, but in the event of me checking that the event has been triggered harmlessly, I can then opt to temporarily suspend alerts for that camera. So, if the gardener triggers the alert, I log in , see that it is the gardener, and know that they usually are there for 1 hour, so hit pause for 60 minutes. If I see it is the window cleaner, then I know he is only there for 10 minutes so hit pause for 10.

Why is this different than the delay ? Basically with this option I have to actively tell the system to stop alerting me after I have determined a non-threat. If I am off line / asleep etc then the system will still continue to monitor and alert at the same level. An example, a potential intruder goes to the main entrance of the protected zone. They check to see if anyone is home just like an innocent visitor. No answer. They leave. If they come back in 5, 10 or 15 minutes later, then with the hardcoded delayed notification then no alert would be sent. With the pause system, then an alert would be sent (as we would not have paused the system)

At the risk of sounding naggy, I really can't stress enough how important this feature is.

Having a single worker at my house (today it's my sprinkler guy), will literally trigger 60-100 emailed alerts per hr for me. It's overwhelming. And there's really no way around this w/o a delay, or the alternative of disabling alerts altogether.

Ugh, very disappointed to see this isn't included in the recent update. Hopefully will be on the next one. Severely limits the functionality of this software for people that have anything going on at their house (lawn service, pool service etc.) while they are away.

I have trouble with this issue, in that when an event happens at a camera, I receive continuous notifications.
I can see the issues with disabling those emails/notifications, but what if you were to simply set a time for them to be package sent after the initial one. this would stop multiple emails/notification - all in ONE email/notification.

Regards

Why don't you just use the native iOS or Android app instead of e-mails? Then you can turn off push notifications at your phone when the yard guys come and turn them back on when they leave. Presumably you still need the clips to be generated in case something happens during the yard guys visit, like they scratch your car, you just don't need to be told about the alert real time.

A couple things, primarily I don't want to have to manually turn it on and off. I'm not always able to use my phone for example, then when I check my email later I am inundated with hundreds of emails.

It isn't just yard guys, it's anything. Even the mailman coming will generate 2-3 emails from the same rule in just a few seconds. I really just need/want the one, then would rather it pause alerts for a specified period of time. I have a lot of stuff going on at my house while I'm away (yard guys, sprinkler guy, lighting guy, bug guy (house), other bug guy (yard)), I don't want 100+ emails for each one.

Secondly, while the sighthound motion detection is what I'd call "good", it isn't perfect. My dogs and sometimes even the neighbors' cat will trigger alerts that are set for people. Sometimes it's just a lizard sticking his head in front of the frame for a few minutes. Under the current software, if my dogwalker comes by while I'm at work and lets my dogs out, the dogs will trigger dozens of emails in a few minutes. Again, these are alerts that are set to detect people ... I'm ok that the software can't always distinguish between an 80 lb dog or even a tiny lizard at close range from a person, but without the delay a simple false alarm mushrooms into dozens of false alarms. With a delay, the dogs would go out, I'd get one or two or even a handful of emails of my dogs, no big deal.

I had this feature at my old house w/ my old cameras and software (logitech alert). That software was lacking in other ways, for example the motion detection wasn't as advanced, but the ability to delay alerts kept emails to a manageable level even with the inferior motion detection.

To be honest I rarely even use the sighthound app on my iphone, and don't want to have to.

This is an incredibly easy/simple solution to implement and would take this software from "not very useful" to "extremely useful" for me, and I suspect others, who use the email alerts.

Thank you so much for implementing this crucial feature!

Sighthound works much better for me now. I've been playing with it and tweaking it over the last few days, and have dramatically reduced the # of email alerts I receive while still getting alerted when someone shows up in the driveway or front door or walks around the back of my house. I am also able to make more of my alert rules 24/7 as I no longer get bombarded when I go back there.

I had been using VitiminD for the last couple of years with a five camera licence and have bend very happy with it other than the notifications every second.
Thanks so much for asking for this and thank you to Sighthound for making it possible to set a delay, I have just bought a pro account just for this one feature. :)
