video output

by falcon999 » Sun Apr 20, 2014 6:33 pm

one of the things i like to do each day is get up and look at all video in a row, but unfortunately it shows me a lot of video not saved by a rule. so I created all of these rules so that sighthound wouldn't record swaying trees etc, but then when I got back and watch all video in a row, those videos show up and I don't have the option to not watch them?

also see if we could get a 4x or 6x or faster, when I'm scanning video i'm usually going pretty fast and then slow down to figure out what something is.

ps. I have on my 27" i7 imac 16 cameras on there, they are all analog 600tvl, at 5fps, but I have them all recording and i'm only using about 20 percent cpu power.

By default when you open the application, "All objects" will be the default selected rule. You can select the rule you wish you view in the choice control. See the attached image for details.

If you really would like *all* video not matching a rule with a save response to be deleted, such that "All objects" only shows clips matching rules, you can set your "temporary video" duration in Options/Preferences to 1 hour, such that all non-matching video is quickly purged.

For playback speeds 4x may be feasible as a replacement for 3x, but at 6x and higher most machines cannot actually decode and display video this quickly. On a new macbook pro, as an example, selecting 8x playback in quicktime provides negligible speed boost over 4x playback (certainly not double), while 16x is identical to 8x.

ahh gotcha on the short interval temp video, i'm going to try that, because I do the thing with super secret rule, but you can't pick that and make it be all camera's and that's what I usually do. that way it picks up someone walking in front of one camera to the next and the next etc...

like when someone drives around my house... I have 16 cameras so that happens a lot!
