Loss of configuration when operating 391W WIFI

by wud-wurks » Wed Mar 26, 2014 3:16 pm

I am trying to install a Tenvis 391 W camera operating WIFI from a location that is some 30 metres from the hub. I am using a highly directional 2.4Ghz antenna to establish a solid wifi connection.

I want to turn the camera off at night, automatically, and then turn it back on again in the morning. ( Save battery power, which is topped up during the daylight hours with a solar panel). Currently the configuration is lost when the camera is powered down, how can I save the config when it is powered down. I leave the PC on continuously, it does not go into screen saver or shut down the hard drive during the night, in the expectation that when camera powers up, the system should self restore. But it doesn't.

Help please!!

Hi wud-wurks,

When you say the configuration is lost, what exactly do you mean by this?

How are you turning the camera on and off? If you turn the camera off and on manually, and Sighthound Video is unable to reconnect, it sounds like perhaps the camera is getting a new IP address on each boot. To solve this you would need to configure your router to assign a static IP address to the camera, this would remove any need for reconfiguration on new reboots.
