Strange resolution problem

by catnamedog » Sat Sep 07, 2013 4:59 am

Hi
I'm almost certain this isn't a VDV problem as such, but you've been so helpful to me in the past, I'm hoping you will be able to give me some help. Here's my problem;

I'm using the 2-user version with just one feed, which is a cheap digital video camera going through a Tevion usb converter. It's listed as "USB 2861 camera".
Up to recently, resolution was good enough for me to read the number plate on my car in the driveway. However, in recent times resolution has gone to "horribly pixellated" - really low rez, and I can't alter it in VDV settings.
I tried deleting the camera from Device Manager and reloading the driver. No joy. Last week, I tried reloading some other camera software in the hope that any inbuilt video driver might be the "good" one. It worked for a couple of days, then went back to "horrible".
Throughout, VDV has been fine, which is why I think it's a driver, rather than VDV problem.
Can you offer any guidance please?

Hi catnamedog,

You see this issue in all applications that try to access the camera? You mention reloading drivers, have you tried removing custom drivers completely and simply using the built in windows webcam driver?
